The more experienced and successful the entrepreneur, the more they emphasise culture as a means of embedding the company’s values and identity within the team. Clear values and purpose support the recruitment and retention of talent.

It also boosts loyalty and motivates people to help the company achieve its mission. Communication is crucial, with platforms and processes encouraging collaboration and the right behaviours.

Joel Perlman Co-Founder at OakNorth Bank will be joining us to share his expertise in this area. Joel previously co-founded Copal Amba, an outsourced research company. During his time building Copal Amba, it grew to 3,000 employees across 11 countries before it was acquired in 2014.

In September 2015, Joel launched OakNorth with co-founder Rishi Khosla to provide fast, flexible and accessible debt finance (up to £20m) to entrepreneurs, mid-sized growth businesses and property developers.

In the last two years, the bank has grown its loan book to £450m and been named as one of 17 UK fintech businesses that could one day be worth $1bn.

This dinner will look to explore, but will not be limited to:

• Defining and communicating your vision, values, and purpose
• Creating consistent processes to embed the right behaviours
• Optimising the tools and technologies to support collaboration
• Sustaining culture and values through management meetings
• Identifying cultural challengers before they become toxic
